Personal Evangelism
Jesus passed on to His apostles a ministry characterized by both personal witness and public proclamation. In this extensive course you will gain a thorough understanding of how to communicate the Gospel. You will learn to stimulate spiritual interest and effectively communicate biblical truth through friendship evangelism, focused conversations, share your personal testimony, literature distribution, door-to-door surveys and canvasses, community programs, health evangelism, internet websites, and Bible studies. Study the fascinating principles of soul-winning, the process of conviction and the art of leading people to decision. These skills will be applied through field opportunities. Much of the class time will be “hands-on”, witha full-length evangelistic meeting providing the backdrop.
Christian Essentials – BBC
This class offers a fundamental survey of the core teachings of Scripture. This class will be faith affirming, Christ cantered and thoroughly Biblical. Students will be required to write their own Bible studies that cover each of the 28 fundamental beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Many times the reason Christians do not share their faith, is because they are afraid they will not be able to adequately explain their faith. Christian Essentials (Bible Boot Camp) is an intensive course, designed to quickly train individuals to effectively share more than 20 Bible doctrines. Trained, experienced, and successful evangelists share the texts, illustrations, and methods for bringing others to decision that have resulted in the conversion of thousands of souls. By the end of the course, each student will have a Bible marked with the texts for each powerful study, and also dynamic methods to share those texts.
Homiletics
This course is a study of principles of sermon preparation and presentation with an emphasis on evangelistic preaching. The student will learn how to prepare and present powerful evangelistic sermons that lead to decisions using a variety of preaching tools and styles. The student will be required to prepare sermon outlines and will be given an opportunity to practice preaching.
Biblical Interpretation (Revelation & Inspiration)
This foundational class will set the stage for a proper understanding of sacred Scripture. It will cover the basics of how to study, understand and interpret the Bible.
Eschatology/Final Events An examination from both Bible and Ellen White writings of the events surrounding the last days. This course will cover the major prophetic sections of Daniel and Revelation as they relate to the Great Controversy and the closing evens of earth’s history. An examination of the popular eschatological concepts prevalent in Protestantism today; as well as the principles involved in understanding prophetic interpretation from an SDA perspective.Biblical Ethics
Ethical structures are very popular in our society, as SDAs we believe that Biblical ethic is of eternal value. This class will investigate Biblical ethics and evaluate competing ethical paradigms such as pragmatism, situationalism and evolutionary antinomianism.Kingdom Living [Righteousness by Faith]
A study of conversion, and righteousness by faith in all its interrelated aspects, the nature of man, the nature of sin, the nature of Christ, confession and repentance, justification and sanctification, victory over sin and temptation, plus the importance of the 1888 message, the righteousness of Christ and the law, and issues in the books of Galatians and Romans. Considerable time will be spent in the book of Romans, this book sparked the Protestant Reformation in Europe and more recently in SDA history was instrumental in the 1888 message in Adventism.
Church History [SDA and Reformation]
This class offers a survey of the history of the Christian church from the time of the apostles, to the formation of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and beyond.
Prophetic Guidance
A study of one of the principle means by which God communicates with people. The work of prophets in the OT times is explained. The tests and functions of a prophet are examined. The work and life of Ellen G White and God’s influence on His remnant church through her are stressed.Health and the Gospel
This class is designed to give the students the tools to utilize effectively the right arm of the gospel in their outreach work. Proven successful methods will be taught, combined with practical experience gained in the field under qualified instructors. Christ has called us to minister to the whole person: body, mind and soul. This class is designed to provide practical lifestyle information in an effort to positively impact the health and wellbeing of the students and those to whom they are called to minister.Church Leadership & Organisation
This class is intended to present the basic principles of effective Christian ministry. Congregational visitation, vision casting and pastoral evangelism are some of the many topics that will be addressed.Church Planting
Establishing groups of believers in every community was a priority for the early church and it should be a priority for God's church today. Though not exhaustive, this class will address important lessons and principles for modern-day church planting and church planters.Music and worship
This class will address and outline Biblical principles for evaluating music and using it effectively in your ministry. We will look at the importance of music and worship in a balanced and thorough manner.Archaeology and Evangelism
Learn how to understand accurate Biblical Chronology, that confirms faith in the Bible as historically accurate, and also how to use the unearthed mysteries of ages past as an effective public evangelistic tool. This class will be taught by an eminent archaeologist.Principles of Public Evangelism
Learn to prepare, preach and preserve according to the principles of inspired writings. Practical instruction will cover the planning and implementation of the complete cycle of evangelism.Apologetics
In these days of increasing scepticism it is essential that Christian workers are equipped with good answers for the “hard questions” of competing worldviews. If you have desired to make a bigger impact on an increasingly post-Christian, post-modern society this class will provide an invaluable foundation upon which to build.
Introduction to Teaching/Facilitation skills
On this course students will be introduced to the principles of teaching and learning. They will be introduced to the growing range of teaching skills that are needed to meet the diversity of learning situations that they can encounter from instructor to lecturer to facilitator and personal tutor. These skills will equip them to meet the needs of those to whom they seek to instruct on bible principles or lecture on biblical truths or facilitate in biblical discussions and support when encountering complex biblical principles. They will learn about the range of learning and teaching styles that have been identified and how these can be utilised to impact on learning and teaching positively. They will be trained in how to deliver topics in a student-centered way and how to use different and appropriate methods and resources effectively with an array of biblical topics.
Introduction to Christian Counselling
On this course students will be introduced to and learn about the goals of counseling, which are exploration, developing new understanding, taking right action and healing. They learn the basic skills of counselling such as active listening, demonstrating empathy, and showing respect for the individual. They learn how to utilise Christian principles in the counselling process such as truth speaking, honest reflection, being non-judgmental and forgiveness. They learn how to draw on prayer, scripture and faith to help others, and recognise that the wisdom of the bible provides tools, frameworks and processes for the individual to use as they pursue change in their lives. They learn that true wholeness comes from a personal relationship with God and this underpins their practice.
Pastoral Studies
In this introductory class we will look at what it means to perform the role of Pastoral ministry. We will look at the need to nurture, educate and inform individuals as well as small groups. The major portion of this class will focus on the dynamics and nurture needed to sustain a small group such as bible study classes and church plant core teams.
